Term
break has arrived at Jyotirmay International School as a sweet reward after a period of planned learning – for our
students this is a time of fun and relaxation as well as assimilating all the new knowledge that they have learned and
discovered during their first term.
In
the final week before the holidays though, we had two fun-filled days with children
displaying all their learning on Science
Day, explained to everyone how science works.
They were the teachers on
that day while their teachers (along with juniors) became audience!
The seniors showed us how magnets worked underneath iron fillings. |
Meanwhile, the juniors had their own demonstration of how magnets work even through water as a medium. |
Other
experiments carried out by the juniors included use of alum to make dirt
particles settle at the bottom of a water container, and to demonstrate sunlight
passing through a prism to create rainbow colors.
Our students discovered that scientific technology can be fun as well as useful in the making of gadgets.
Also, learning how everyday essentials like sound, light, lenses and even musical
notes work make the study of science more enjoyable too.
Here’s
a poem which some of our junior students had to share on this day:
Science, Science why do I need you,
Science hidden in me and you too,
It has made such a beautiful
technology,
Maybe it can take us back in the
timeless mythology.
I don’t know how
Science makes us go just wow!
This
was followed by dancing and games on the last day of school on Friday 30th
October; all the students and teachers had fun indulging in singing, dancing,
playing sports and the Garba finale.
The pre-primary, junior as well as senior levels got to acquire spatial skills which they eagerly showed off.
Meanwhile, besides all the students, our teachers also got a fun way to begin their holidays!
