Celebrating Freedom with Scientific Inquiry

Jyotirmay International School celebrated India’s 70th Independence Day on 15th August 2017 with the twin lights of science and freedom of thought.

In keeping with Jyotirmay’s tradition of celebrating Science Day along with our Independence Day, the theme 'Udaan – the wings of Freedom' also included independence of scientific inquiry. While the first part of our programme saw children showcasing delightfully choreographed dances and songs learned throughout this term, the latter part displayed scientific temperament that appealed to one and all.

Classical and traditional dance forms like Bharatnatyam, Kathak and Barchi besides athletics, have given our students a depth and grace in their performing arts as well as teaching them physical balance.





This year’s Science Day programme has broken away from the usual exhibition with thought-provoking and innovative ‘talks’ which complemented the theme. Besides the unique performances, this interactive event involved parent volunteers who clearly loved their lessons!

Science Day also gave the children a platform to bring forth glimpses from our highly popular Festival of Stories which ran a few weeks earlier. Tell-a-Tale with impromptu stories based upon science related props gave our students an opportunity to display their talent in front of their cheering parents.


One of our special discoveries in this act has been Burhan Ezzi who from the very beginning hasn’t failed to get his audience in splits as he spins his yarns!





Finally, sharing the limelight with students, this year our teachers decided upon a traditional dress code, which called for photo-ops besides the finishing touches being added to the themed décor.
